The Animal House Program
Our Story
Animal House opened in 2010, when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal adoption center and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their adoption center need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need.
Today Animal House is a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. Many of the cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We impose no time limit on their stay, giving each cat or kitten the time they need to heal and find a home. Now in its 13th year, Animal House remains committed to making a positive impact in our community on behalf of the thousands of cats and kittens we have come to know on their journey from the streets to their adoptive families.
Our Mission
Animal House is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing neglected and abandoned cats in our community.
We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy, and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.
